FINIX is a fuel behaviour module developed at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. It calculates the thermomechanical solution of a cylindrical fuel rod separately in each axial region of the rod. The rod internal pressure is calculated by taking into account the deformations and temperatures of all axial nodes, and is assumed equal throughout the axial length of the rod. Coupled with the one dimensional treatment of the heat equation, this constitutes the so-called 1.5-dimensional model.

FINIX has been designed to be coupled on a source-code level with other reactor core physics solvers, so that passing input and output files between the core solvers is not necessary.
